Selma
For nearly two years a coalition of pro-life organizations worked to have the state of Alabama shut down the illegal operation of Dr. Samuel Lett. Today that abortionist is no longer performing abortions in the city of Selma. The Central Alabama Women's Clinic, formerly used as Lett's back-alley abortion clinic, is now operating as a weight-loss facility.
On Juneteenth, 2015 (June 18) a coalition of all ethnicities convened at Christ the King Church in Selma to cry out to God to heal our land beginning with shutting down the illegal abortion operation in Selma. In a public declaration to God and man, more than 300 people, a veritable Gideon's army, marched across the historic Pettus Bridge on June 19, 2015 calling on the state of Alabama and the citizens of Selma to shut Lett down. God answered and the voices of the citizens prevailed. A call to the Central Alabama Women's Clinic confirmed Lett is no longer doing abortions or providing OB-GYN services. The women of Selma and Alabama have won a victory with the closing of the illegal abortion operation of Samuel Lett. We do not know how many women lost their fertility, or even lives, at his hands. We are rejoicing, however, that our community actions have resulted in the closure of this center.
